Ship Deck is a traditional, yet modern fish and chip shop based in Trethomas, Caerphilly, which is owned and operated by husband and wife team Ryan & Kimberly Hughes.<\/p>\n

Ship Deck is known for its pure white flakey fish, crisp light batter, twice cooked chips and amazing home made meals. Great food, A great team, and a queue of customers who look forward to getting tucked in.<\/p>\n

So what fueled Ship Deck to set sail? .. Let’s find out.<\/p>\n

Ryan has been in the Fish & Chip industry for more than half his life. He began working in his local chippy from the age of 14, and worked his way up from potato preparation to manager. This is where he met Kimberly as a customer. She was the fish to his chips!<\/p>\n

Ryan has a huge passion for quality food and the drive to run a successful business. During his time in the industry, he achieved many prestigious, National Awards at the National Fish and Chip Awards, One being YOung Fish Fryer Of The Year 2016. This is where the Hughes family, knew one day in the near future they must open a fish and chip shop of their own, to create fish and chips for others to enjoy. <\/p>\n

Trethomas was the perfect place. Surrounded by factories, offices, schools and a great local community,<\/p>\n

 it was a must.<\/p>\n

After snapping up the run down building, with the help of their youngest Charlie, family & friends, full refurbishment was complete. Doors opened in July 2019. The couple expected it to be a small village chippy that would tick over to provide them with a career they love. They were wrong, very wrong. Ship Deck quickly became very popular and somewhat a local icon!<\/p>\n

Superb! We ordered the haddock supper and it was stunning. The fish and chips were delicious as were the tartar sauce and mushy peas. Sustainably sourced food containers too just excellent. The BEST fish and chips in South Wales.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/g><\/svg><\/div><\/div>

Wanted to try this place for a while and was not disappointed, freshly cooked fish and chips tasted perfect. We added mushy peas and tartar sauce which pushed the price up but still good value for money. Comprehensive menu of the usual fish and chip shop favourites and some pub favourites like hunters chicken and all served by pleasant staff, I would definitely recommend a visit<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/g><\/svg><\/div><\/div><\/div>
